Nancy joined Apna Law LLP in 2022.

Nancy grew up in Delta, B.C. and received her B.A. at Simon Fraser University in 2013. She then went on to complete law school at Queen’s University in Ontario where she was heavily involved in legal aid clinics as a law student. She was a Volunteer Patient Advocate with the Access Pro Bono Mental Health Program where she argued for the release of involuntary patients before the Mental Health Review Board in BC in her first summer as a law student. She volunteered and worked at the Queen’s University Legal Aid Clinic where she successfully represented clients in criminal court proceedings, in small claims court, social assistance tribunals, and criminal injuries compensation board applications while also mentoring the clinic’s new volunteers. She received an award for her significant contribution to the Legal Aid Clinic in her final year of law school, nominated by both peers and staff. At the same time, Nancy also worked at the Queen’s University Prison Law Clinic where she assisted clients with disciplinary charges and institutional grievances and was recognized as one of their top law students in her final year. Queen’s University further recognized Nancy’s extensive community involvement with the clinics, her role as a mental health advocate, and as a Board Member of the Sexual Assault Centre with a Community Commitment Award.

Prior to law school, Nancy volunteered at Fraser Health BC’s crisis line, where she supported clients with mental health concerns through creating safety plans, and providing referrals to resources in the community.

Currently, Nancy volunteers with Access Pro Bono, and is a regional advocate with the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies (CAEFS) in BC to better conditions for prisoners in institutions designated for women. Specifically, she assists CAEFS with review of federal policies, with parole-related matters, and in addressing systemic human rights violations.

Outside of law, Nancy enjoys basketball, kickboxing, hiking, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and trying new restaurants. She also spends most of her free time with her adorable, mini-labradoodle, Archie.
